WHY A SIBERIAN CAT?

What reasons could we have to decide on a Siberian cat? On the one hand, its impressive beauty. They take a long time to develop completely, approximately five years, but the wait is worthwhile. Then you have their extraordinary robustness, based on natural selection under the most extreme conditions for many centuries. Once the first months are over, the only vet bill will be for the annual check-up and the revaccination. To date, no hereditary illnesses or predispositions to certain health problems are known, as can be the case in certain other breeds.
Nevertheless, all Siberian cat owners agree that the above reasons are not the most important nor those that make the Siberian cat unique.
What is really exceptional about the Siberian cat is its character and the relationship it establishes with its surroundings. The extremely long, cold winters of its native land have undoubtedly contributed to the way this animal searches for and appreciates a close relationship with man.
The Siberian cat requires a lot of affection and attention and will always be pending on our wishes.

It is lively, balanced and faithful, has a great personality and loves to be close to people. We must treat it with respect and affection, never to betray the trust it has placed in us. It is normally not fearful and adores children if they are not too little.
It's very fast and has explosive strength. Very often we will see it sleeping on its back or in some other impossible posture. Some Siberians are true clowns. They at once engage us in a lively conversation that will give us the impression that they know how to listen but that they also have a lot to say.

The kittens are irresistible, with wide heads and a fluffy coat. But it's also exciting to watch them grow. Their growing process, which will last for five years, is not continuous but spread over intervals. Round little balls until four months of age, they then begin to shoot up and look somewhat ungainly: the extremities grow disproportionately, the legs are too long, the ears enormous, the body too skinny and long….

By the end of the second year, the proportions regain their harmony. From this moment on, we can see how one of the most beautiful and impressive cats known begins to take on its definite form. Above all, when winter arrives, we can observe how the fur round the collar increases. The males acquire a wide, powerful skull. They increase in volume and weight.
As each day passes, the Siberian looks more like a lynx, while character-wise it remains a cuddly pet.
